Thursday Update #20: A Day Late and a Spritesheet Short

Actually not, I have the spritesheets finished up to the Tier 4 enemies. Yesterday I got caught up and forgot to do the update, so my bad. More on that below. Good news is most of what I've been doing has been pretty boring, so you haven't missed much. Bad news is that I've come to the realization that the basic set up needs to be redone, so all my scripts and code need to be scrapped and redone. It would work fine if my game were simpler, but because it's not it'll be easier to start over now rather than trying to force it to work.

Like I said, I have all the spritesheets set up to be imported into Unity and actually have some assets ready. While I was excited at first, my first import highlighted some visual bugs. The second attempt, some more. and then something else got screwed up. So on and so on, so I've had a frustrating week of trying things, them not working, and having to discover a new way to do the thing I want. I've been pulling my hair out because every time I look at something new, I discover new problems that I need to figure out.

The little silver lining is that I have one enemy (mostly) set up. Animations are set up, though they have no scripts to trigger them yet, and the hitbox is good to go. The hitbox follows the animation of the character, and while it's close to the actual shape of the character I had to use box colliders to do what I wanted. Hopefully I don't get any weird hit detection bugs down the road, but it works for now so that's how it's staying.

Question For Readers:

For some other things that I wouldn't mind some input on, I was talking about my game and things and it was brought up to me that there was no way to donate to the game. I pointed out that there was, but it's buried in a subpage on the website so:

Question is this: Would you find it annoying or unsavory if I put a donation button next to the navigation buttons and searchbar above? (Or more likely in the "More" tab.)

While it would make it much easier for people who want to do that sort of thing, it feels kinda sleazy/beggary to me, but maybe I'm just being overly sensitive to it. (Don't think sensitive is the right word, but hopefully you get what I mean.)

Anyway, this week I'm going to continue on getting the enemy prefabs done and possibly get some of that coding reworked. We'll see what happens. See you next week.
